Mary Harris Jones was born in 1837 and came to the United States as an
immigrant from Ireland.
She was a labor organizer that worked strenuously for economic justice. She
once led a march to President Roosevelt's home with 80 mill children to show
him how messed up child labor was. This march eventually persuaded the passing
of child labor laws. Jones faced severe punishments such as death and prison
with the coal miners due to her strong beliefs in equality of all workers. Mary Harris Jones died in 1930.

She cofounded Chicago's Hull House in 1889 which provided homes to poor people and gave them opportunities they couldn't get living on the streets. Addams was also an antiwar activist, spokesperson for racial justice, and advocate for quality of life issues. She was a co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931. Jane Addams died in 1935.

Christopher
Sholes was born in 1819 and invented the typewriter and QWERTY keyboard that is
still used today. Sholes learned the printer's trade when he was an apprentice
for a printer. When he grew up, he dabbled in politics and was in the Senate
for Wisconsin.
Sholes also was the editor and publisher of the Southport Telegraph, which was
published for 17 years. Christopher Sholes died in 1890.

Rockefeller was born in 1839 in New York and grew up to be a major philanthropist and one of the world's wealthiest men. He was the founder of Standard Oil Company in 1870 and by 1890, that company controlled about 90% of America's oil refineries. According to Supreme Court, Rockefeller was violating anti-trust laws and had to shut down his company. Throughout his life, he donated more than $500 million to various philanthropic causes. John D. Rockefeller died in 1937.
